Six Things to Settle before the Crew Arrives

Every item below has to be true on installation day. A prepared site streamlines installation, prevents delays, avoids potential structural issues, and eliminates additional costs down the line. Tick each one off as you sort it.

   Are Any Local Permits Required?

   Most buildings will require a building permit. Check with your county or city to see if one is required in your area.

   Is the Lot Level?

   The location where the metal building will be installed must be level within 3 inches from front to back and side to side, as well as being square for proper installation.

   Has the Site Been Cleared of Debris and Obstacles?

   Installation crews require a minimum of 3 feet of level clearance around the entire perimeter of the structure. If a lift is to be used, a minimum of 10 feet clear of obstructions is strictly required.

   Is There a Clear Path to the Installation Site?

   The installation crew will arrive with a dually pickup truck and attached trailer that totals 55 to 70 feet long. Remote locations, steep hills, or sites located far into fields can be completely inaccessible to the crews.

   Have All Utility Lines Been Marked?

   All utility lines that run underneath the installation footprint, including power, water and gas, must be clearly marked. Call 811 to have utilities marked free of charge.

   Is Safety Training or a Safety Video Required?

   Any safety requirements, orientations, or safety videos that must be completed prior to installation have to be disclosed to Carport Central upon purchase of the unit, and noted on the purchase order. A fee may be incurred depending on the length and depth of the training.
