Metal lean-to buildings are a well-liked option for covered space among homeowners. Lean-tos create an enjoyable outdoor patio area that protects and shades you from the sun and elements. Don’t you get tired of having to dig your car out of the snow every winter? And it’s no fun getting soaking wet trying to get to your car in a downpour, is it? A lean-to metal building is the perfect solution!

Types of Lean-to Buildings

There are two main types of lean-to buildings, free-standing and attached. While they look similar to one another, there is a slight difference between the two. A free-standing lean-to is often installed near an existing structure, but not connected to it. It’s commonly used as a loading area beside an existing home, garage, or business to shelter you from the elements.

An attached lean-to, on the other hand, is connected to another structure. Depending on your location, some companies will only install a lean-to if they also installed the existing structure, for liability reasons. Enclosed Metal Garages with Lean-to

A popular design among our customers is to have one or two lean-tos connected to an enclosed metal garage. This provides an enclosed area for vehicles and equipment along with an open-air lean-to for storing firewood, boats, hunting and fishing gear, and everything in between! Installing an enclosed metal garage with attached lean-tos provides more storage space and saves yourself money in the process.

Barns with Lean-tos

Many farmers have found that having a lean-to attached to or installed beside their current structure kills two birds with one stone. You can shelter your livestock in the main barn and store your feed, hay bales, farrier and grooming tools, and riding equipment under the lean-to.  The lean-to provides a convenient place to store additional farming necessities without taking up too much valuable enclosed space.

And those jerseys from your high school days … good times. But they’re in the way now, and you’re constantly having to move boxes around, or you’re getting tired of stepping on Legos. With a lean-to building, you no longer have to worry about parting with memories or being limited to usable space. Everything from Christmas decorations, to old toys and jerseys, to your yard sale items can be stored in a lean-to. Not only do you have extra space inside your home, but you have easy access to your stored items.

Features of a Lean-to Building

• Roof Style – Carport Central offers three types of roof styles; regular (good), A-frame or boxed-eave (better), and vertical (best).
  1. A regular roof is the most economical option offered at Carport Central. With rounded edges and horizontal paneling, this design resembles that of a barn. It is recommended for areas that experience moderate weather conditions such as light rain.
  2. Our A-frame style is also known as boxed-eave or A-frame horizontal. While they look similar, the difference between this style and a vertical roof is the paneling. A-frame roofs have horizontal-oriented paneling, great for areas that may have high winds but not heavy precipitation. This option is more affordable since it does have not have the hat-channel pieces.
  3. Carport Central’s most popular and top-selling option is the vertical roof style. If you live in an area that experiences weather such as heavy rains or heavy snowfall, this style is highly-recommended. The vertical panels allow rainwater and snow to exit off the sides without settling around the foundation.
• Windows – Would you like to have some natural light in your garage? The standard size window we use at Carport Central is 30”x30”; however, we can install other sizes if you prefer (varies by location).
• Walk-in Doors – These are great additions for metal buildings and can even be added at a later point, after the initial install. Our doors are available with or without windows, just specify if you do not want one when placing your order.

Installation and Delivery

Delivery and installation included when you buy a steel structure from us. The manufacturer will be in contact with you to schedule a good date and time for delivery and installation. If our team arrives on the scheduled day and your site is not level, you may have to reschedule and pay a return trip fee. If there is a possibility, they will try to level your site at an additional charge.

Your Site Prep Checklist

1. The area needs to be clear of any debris and vegetation
2. Make sure your site is leveled – our crew cannot install your unit if the foundation is unlevel
3. Be sure the installation crew can access the site – if there is more than a 50-foot difference between the delivery truck and the site, you may be charged additional service fees.
